# How do I keep my place in a knitting pattern?

https://rowandround.app/tools/highlighter-bar · Free · Kallos Labs

> In Row & Round, a coloured bar sits on the row you're working in your PDF pattern, with a page window showing about 6 lines around it. Tap +1 and the bar slides down to the next row, so looking away from the needles costs you nothing.

## How it works

Row & Round reads the lines of text on each page and shows only the few around your row, spaced apart with hairlines and cropped to the column you're reading. The bar rests on your row and says whether it's a right side or wrong side row. At the end of a page, the next tap carries it to the first row of the following page, and in two-column layouts it climbs from the foot of one column to the top of the next. Charts, photos and pages with no lines open as the plain page, the bar laid across one row. Whole page shows the full PDF for the big picture, and Night page turns text pages dark with light ink for evening knitting.

## When you’d reach for it

- Glancing up from a long row of stocking stitch and landing back on the right line
- Following a lace or colourwork chart one row at a time
- Picking up a shawl after a week in the bag and starting exactly where you stopped

## Good to know

### Can I nudge the bar myself?

Yes. Drag it onto the right row or move it up and down a little. Row & Round remembers its spot on every page.

### Can I pick a different colour for the bar?

Yes: Coral, Butter, Mint or Sky.

### Will the bar mark up my original PDF?

No. Row & Round keeps its own copy of the PDF and never writes into it. The bar and any markup float on top.
