Can I use a scanned or photographed knitting pattern?
Yes. Scan a printed page with the camera, pick a photo, or open a scanned PDF, and Row & Round finds the lines of text with recognition that runs on your device. The bar then sits on your row as it does on any other page, and nothing is uploaded.
FreeHow it works
Plenty of older and vintage patterns exist only as pictures of pages. Row & Round recognises the lines on those pages on your iPhone or iPad and spaces them out in the page window, so the bar behaves as it does on a text PDF. When a page has no lines to find, such as a chart or a photo, it appears as the plain page and you set the bar by hand. The bar can be resized to match the height of the pattern's rows.
When you’d reach for it
- Vintage patterns copied from paper
- Leaflets and magazine pages saved as image PDFs
- A printed page photographed at the kitchen table
Good to know
- Is my pattern sent anywhere to be read?
- No. The text finding happens on your device, with no network involved.
