How do I count rows while knitting or crocheting?
In Row & Round, press the big +1 each time you finish a row or round. The number goes up, the highlighter bar steps to the next row in the same moment, and your place is saved with every tap.

How it works
The count is the row you're on, and a new project starts at row 1. The big number and the round +1 stay put on screen, with Undo and Counters as small buttons beside them. Each +1 gives a soft buzz, handy for counting by feel, and you can add a click sound or have the number spoken. Hold the number to type one in when you join a pattern halfway. Flat knitting counts rows, work in the round and crochet count rounds, and nothing is reset unless you say so.
When you’d reach for it
- Keeping track of rows up a sweater body or down a sleeve
- Counting rounds on a hat, a sock or an amigurumi
- Holding your place when you only get ten minutes with the needles
Good to know
- What happens if I tap +1 by accident?
- Tap Undo. The number and the bar both step back.
- Can I count without a pattern file?
- Yes. A counters-only project gives you counters and notes with no pattern attached.
- Does it count rows or rounds?
- Whichever the project needs. Flat knitting counts rows; knitting in the round and crochet count rounds.
