How do I count repeats and rows at the same time?
Link two counters in Row & Round: one for the repeat, one for the pattern row, which drops back to 1 whenever the repeat goes up. For "repeat rows 1 to 8 six times", the row counter runs 1 to 8 while the repeat counter climbs to 6.

How it works
Any counter can be tied to another, and the child starts over when its parent ticks up. Links can be stacked several levels deep for repeats inside repeats, and Row & Round refuses a link that would chase its own tail. Set a number by hand and the linked counters follow. Linked counters come with Row & Round Unlock.
When you’d reach for it
- Lace with a repeat that spans a handful of rows
- A cable crossed on every 8th row inside a longer repeat
- A crochet blanket worked in bands that come round again
Good to know
- Could a linked counter jump back on its own?
- Only through its link: the child returns to 1 when its parent goes up. Nothing else is reset without asking you first.
- Can I chain more than two counters?
- Yes. Links run several levels deep, which suits repeats inside repeats.
