How do I count repeats and rows at the same time?

Link two counters in Row & Round: a repeat count, and a pattern row that goes back to 1 each time the repeat goes up. For “repeat rows 1 to 8 six times”, the row counter counts 1 to 8 and the repeat counter counts to 6.

Unlock
The Counters screen in Row & Round: a Row counter at 12 with a decrease alert due now, and a Repeat counter linked to a Pattern row at 11 that resets when Repeat goes up.

How it works

Any counter can be linked to another, so a child counter resets when its parent counts up. Links can go several levels deep, for repeats inside repeats, and the app refuses a link that would loop. When you set a value by hand, linked counters follow. Linked counters are part of the one-time unlock.

When people use it

  • Lace with a pattern repeat of a few rows
  • Cables crossed every 8th row inside a longer repeat
  • Crochet blankets worked in repeated bands

Questions

Will a linked counter ever reset on its own?
Only by the link: the child goes back to 1 when its parent counts up. Nothing else resets without asking.
Can I link more than two counters?
Yes. Links can go several levels deep, for repeats inside repeats.
